Drinking Buddies is a laidback exploration of how two individuals test the boundaries of their friendship, with beer subtly playing a key role in the testing process

Kate works at a brewery and has an easy-going friendship with her co-worker Luke, a happy-go-lucky character. She is in a relationship with the sombre Chris, a music band manager, while Luke is in love with the cheerful Jill. The four meet at a party and decide to go on a double date during the weekend. Being with another couple makes Kate aware of the inadequacies in her relationship and she begins flirting with Luke, who is clearly amused at this development. Meanwhile, Chris and Jill go for a hike and sensing that she might be a better partner for him, he kisses her. Chris breaks up with Kate, which makes her passive-aggressive. Meanwhile, Luke opens up to the possibility of a relationship with Kate, which strains their friendship. Filmed in true mumblecore style with improve dialogues and performances, Drinking Buddies is a laidback exploration of how two individuals test the boundaries of their friendship, with beer subtly playing a key role in the testing process. The ‘Extras’ include cast interviews, an overview of the film and a featurette on brewing beer.
